On the 18th July, my boyfriend and I decided on a whim to go to Latitude festival in Southwold. As we both live in Suffolk, the festival which is situated in Henham Park, is only an hours drive from home. Having never been to a festival before (crazy I know! I’m 22 for god sake!) I didn’t really know what to expect. However, the whole weekend was amazing and I’m glad we didn’t miss out!
Who we saw: The Maccabees, Daughter, The Villagers, Jessie Were, Foals, Bloc Party, Sean Walsh, Liam Nelson, Eddie Izzard, Carole Ann Duffy, Rudimental, Disclosure, Alt-J, Richard Ashcroft, Hot Chip.
10 Highlights:
Waking up in our tent to a crate of free Lucozade
Singing along to Bittersweet Symphony with Richard Ashcroft
Rave in the woods
The Maccabees playing as the sun was setting
The comedy tent
The colourful sheep (their wool was dyed with natural colours)
The ‘Three Things…’ tree (people had to write down three things that made them happy and tie them to the branches of a tree)
Drinking beer and cider on the grass
The free newspaper and toast in the morning
The hippy stalls and tents
And things that were more like lowlights…
The long trek from the site to our tent. And trying to find our tent in the middle of the night!
The she-wee tent. That is a sight and smell I would really love to forget!
And of course, the lack of showers
However, will I be going again next year? Of course!
