Top Six Summer Films

film, Summer

The recent sunshine and warm temperatures have been a reminder of how the summer is finally on its way, and I for one, cannot wait. It will soon be time to leave the confines of my sofa (that was oh so cosy during winter), give my pasty legs some air, and frolic in the great outdoors (cue excited squeal). But for now, as I impatiently wait, here are a few of my favourite films that always remind me of summer-time.

Grease grease_1900014b Danny. Sandy. Kenickie. Frenchie. I grew up loving the whole gang…and wanting to be a member. The songs, the teenage love story, the bad boys, and the tight pants make this cult-classic the perfect summer flick.

The Beach The-Beach-movie-mf02 Danny Boyle’s indie classic about the pursuit of paradise has been the popular summer-flick of choice for years. I dare you to watch this and not feel an urge to want to travel and find your own deserted beach. A young and very hot Leonardo makes it all the more enjoyable.

Eat Pray Love Travel Trip Eat Pray Love This semi-autobiographical story of an ordinary woman who decides to start a new life and travel the world is perfect for a nostalgic summer afternoon. The exotic locations will help to cheer you up if you can’t afford a summer holiday this year. After watching this I seriously considered jetting off to India and entering an Ashram. (Crazy I know).

Parent Trap 1_parent_trap This film never fails to remind me of childhood summer holidays. Because of this I always wanted to be a twin, and an American kid at summer camp. No matter how hard I wished for it to happen, it never did.

Slumdog Millionaire

Another Danny Boyle classic, this film (in my opinion) is bloody brilliant. With a clever storyline, loveable characters, and an insight into real-life India; Slumdog Millionaire is the perfect thing to watch to get you in the mood for summer.

Boy + girl + love story + summer = perfect combination.
